Herðubreið and Askja

The Icelandic highlands are accessible in the summer, and also in the winter by snowmobiles or jeeps.

Herðubreið is known as the Queen of Icelandic mountains, and the nearby Askja Caldera is a giant volcanic crater containing Iceland's deepest lake - Öskjuvatn or Lake Askja. A trip to see these unique natural phenomena will not be forgotten.
